Dallas DS75 and ThermIIC

Dallas Semiconductor have released a new thermometer chip - the DS75. Dallas kindly provided some samples, so I've been able to add support for this device in ThermIIC (new version on download page). Just select a DS75 setting from the new pop-up menu in the sensor part of setup. The four different DS75 settings correspond to different resolutions, from 9 to 12-bit. At the 9-bit setting this device is compatible with the older LM75 component. Likewise ThermIIC's "DS75 9-bit" setting should work with an LM75, so if you happen to have one of these please do give it a go. The new model, like the LM75, has a switched output which can be used for thermostat applications, but the DS1624 has 13-bit resolution and greater accuracy, so still seems to be the first choice for thermometry. The DS75 is available only as a surface mount device. However, I found a useful component called an "Adaptic". Essentially just a small PCB with surface-mount pads on top and pins in DIP layout beneath, with one of these and a steady hand you can "convert" the surface-mount package to dual-in-line.
