Cardiff University, and our collaborators, are building a new cosmic microwave background telescope called QUaD (QUEST ar DASI, or QUEST at DASI) to take advantage of the extremely good conditions for astronomy at the South Pole. In preparation for commissioning the telescope we installed its primary mirror and a foam cone support for the secondary mirror just before Christmas, 2003. My task was to install a laser system to monitor the movement of this structure during the austral winter.
